Our Policies
We want to tell stories, we want to create entertainment, we want to make art. But not at any cost. That’s why we’ve developed a set of principles for our work and our projects — principles we are committing to uphold ourselves. We will regularly review, reflect, and adjust these principles as needed. A key part of this reflection will be the feedback we receive from the media and film professionals we collaborate with — and we explicitly invite that feedback. The following policies are therefore just the starting point of an ongoing process. A process we hope will represent our contribution to a fairer and more sustainable media industry.
Creative Control Policy
We know from personal experience how frustrating it can be — and how much it can affect quality — when creative control over an artistic vision is not in the hands of its creators. That’s why we aim to guarantee full creative control to all writers and filmmakers who realize their work with us — from development through to the final product. Feedback — whether it comes from production or co-production partners, financiers, or creative collaborators from other departments — should always enrich the artistic vision, but never reshape or replace it. As long as creative decisions don’t violate our other policies or lead to budget overruns, creative control over the artistic realization of a project remains — within the bounds of our producing capabilities — with the original creators. We also commit to maximum transparency towards the creators of any project, so they always know what’s happening, how, where, and when. True collaboration starts with trust.
No-Asshole Policy
Our work depends on collaborating with talented people — media and film professionals in front of and behind the camera or screen, service providers, and artists. But no matter how passionate or gifted someone is: acting like an asshole is never justified. At every stage of our projects, we will only work with people who share our values regarding interpersonal behavior — and who consistently uphold those values in their actions, their communication, and their art. At the top of that list: respect, fairness, sustainability, and courage. And under no circumstances do we tolerate sexism, homophobia, discrimination, or racism. That should go without saying — but unfortunately, our own experiences and those of many colleagues have shown otherwise. Filmmaker Wero Rodowicz collects and documents such accounts from the industry at: https://www.letsplantstories.com/.
Awareness Policy
We’ve often asked ourselves whether the world really needs three more white cis men starting a production company. But just sitting around and doing nothing wasn’t an option either. Instead, we want to use our three heads to stay constantly aware of our position — and to actively push back against toxic masculinity in the industry and the conflicts that come with it. Through diverse crew and cast choices, and by collaborating with marginalized artists, we aim to amplify other perspectives, offer support, and strengthen representation.
Safe Space Policy
At the start of every production, we will distribute an anti-discrimination booklet to all team members — in addition to our No-Asshole Policy — and set up an independent contact point to report racism, sexism, or any other form of abusive behavior or misuse of power. If, despite all preventive measures, a serious incident occurs, the perpetrator — regardless of their hierarchical position or importance to the project — will be immediately removed from all duties. In cases where evidence is inconclusive, we reserve the right to act at our own discretion. We are fully aware of the potential financial loss this could entail — and we are prepared to accept that risk if necessary. At the same time, we aim to safeguard the affected project and all associated jobs through appropriate contracts and liability clauses. Making films, series, and games is tough enough as it is — the least we can do is ensure everyone feels safe, respected, and comfortable while doing it.
Work Ethic Policy
We work with flexible hours ourselves. That means: if we send emails on weekends or in the middle of the night, it doesn’t mean we expect a reply at those times. Quite the opposite: everyone should feel free to respond whenever it works for them. During shoots, of course, flexible hours are not always possible (we wish!). Still, we aim to reduce the strain that film productions place on everyone involved — and on their families and social lives — as much as possible. That’s why we plan to implement a strict 4-day workweek for all productions that take place within Germany. This applies both to the set and to the production teams working behind the scenes. For shoots at locations that require extended hotel stays, we will work together to find individual solutions that allow for trips home. We are also committed to providing on-set childcare at every one of our productions — and we will advocate for this in cooperation with funding bodies, broadcasters, and streamers. As a rule, weekend and holiday work will be excluded from the schedule, except in absolute exceptional cases. Where production circumstances allow, we will issue weekly schedules in advance to help cast and crew better plan their personal and family lives. The mental and emotional well-being of our teams will always take priority — and will be considered from the planning stage through to final delivery. That starts with creating space for open dialogue, both on a regular basis and in stressful situations. Even if it means extra effort and cost, we firmly believe in this equation: Happier teams = better art.
Responsibility Policy
We’re well aware that films, series, and video games won’t save the world (unfortunately!). But we still believe they can play a part — and that they’re an irreplaceable form of cultural expression, even if it’s “just” by offering distraction or comfort. At the same time, it’s our responsibility to ensure their production does no harm. That’s why we’re committed to making every production as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible. Green Producing will be the standard for all our projects.
Concrete measures include:
• Tracking and monitoring all emissions
• Vegetarian/vegan catering with as many regional products as possible
• Waste reduction and separation in every office and on every set
• No domestic flights within Germany; car travel only in carpools whenever possible
• Minimizing flights within Europe and internationally
• Renewable energy sources in all offices and studios
• Providing rental bikes and cargo bikes during productions
All unavoidable CO₂ emissions generated in the course of a production will be offset through a financial contribution to a sustainable climate protection project.
Links to the respective projects will be available on our website.
None of our projects are in production yet. Still, these six policies are not just lip service — they are a firm declaration of intent. We’re looking forward to putting them to the test in the real world — and hopefully, so are you. Let’s take these steps together — because that’s how real change can happen. And will.
